Joo Chiat Kim Choo Rice Dumpling – Pop-Up Booth till 5 June 2022 at Takashimaya Food Hall B2

It’s the time of the year to celebrate Dragon Boat Festival with Joo Chiat Kim Choo‘s rice dumplings. Made from time-honoured recipe that’s been passed down through generations as well as a touch of modern creativity, explore Joo Chiat Kim Choo’s range of dumpling flavours that are bound to leave one satiating.

Signatures include the Emperor’s Rice Dumpling, Hakka Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables Rice Dumpling and Kee Zhang with Red Bean, while not forgetting classic ones like Hokkien Rice Dumpling with Salted Egg Yolk and Cantonese Bean Rice Dumpling.

The Hakka Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables Rice Dumpling (Red Thread) is particularly enjoyable – comprising a fatty slab of pork belly, savoury preserved mustard greens and mushrooms wrapped in soft, fragrant glutinous rice.

The Cantonese Bean Rice Dumpling (Yellow Thread), on the other hand, presents a lighter and nuttier version with ingredients like braised pork, mushrooms, chestnut and finely ground green beans.

For something more dessert-like, the Kee Chang with Red Bean (Pink Thread) comes with red bean paste that’s smooth and not too sweet. It’s slightly smaller than the usual rice dumpling and would make a good snack in between meals.

Currently, Joo Chiat Kim Choo is having a pop-up booth at Takashimaya Food Hall Basement Two from 12 May to 5 June 2022.
